Description
Laudiatio for the awarding of the Annual Prize of the German Record Critics to the Haydn Cycle with the Auryn Quartet:
“Joseph Haydn is considered the father of the genre. The Auryn Quartet recorded his almost 70 string quartets in a cycle over a period of two years: for the first time according to the source-critically “cleaned” text, with esprit, alert emotion and highly differentiated ensemble, within a natural sound space: a small sensation. For such an undertaking, however, a label is needed that is not only technically up to date, but also willing to take risks. Stuttgart’s TACET Musikproduktion has already distinguished itself several times with precisely this mixture of skill and daring. Hence: an annual award for the Auryn Quartet and their producer/sound engineer Andreas Spreer for their epochal Haydn project, which is already assured a prominent place in the annals of sound recording.”
